About

My name is Yvette. A 50 something new writer living in the picturesque Cornish town of Fowey, that was once the home of Daphne du Maurier. I live with my husband and Border Collie, Gemma. I am mum to two grown up children. I used to be a primary school teacher of children with Special Educational Needs, but now, I work part-time as a supply teacher. This gives me some ‘me’ time and the chance to play golf (badly), attend comic conventions (especially if they are linked to Dr Who), have great evenings with my (successful) pub quiz team and – more importantly – write. A notebook and pencil go with me everywhere, as I never know when thoughts and ideas will come to me!

Most of my writings are inspired by many events and conversations over the years. Recently, I went on a very disappointing cruise and you will see on these pages a number of essays and short stories written from the musings of that week. I completed a first novel earlier this year, but I haven’t yet plucked up the courage to try and get it published. I often suffer from imposter syndrome and starting this blog I hope will help me to build my confidence as a writer.

If not, I will carry on writing. It’s become my passion and my way of relaxing.

Please enjoy.
